Visa and passport

Brazilian citizens do not need a visa for a stay of up to 90 days, every 6 months, in Germany or in the Schengen member countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece , Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland) if the reason for travel is tourism, business, visit or medical treatment (proof: it is necessary take a certificate issued by a Brazilian doctor with the recommendation that the treatment in question must be carried out in one of the Schengen countries, confirmation of a reservation for a place in a hospital or with a doctor and proof of financing for medical treatment expenses).

In these cases, even if you do not need a visa, the traveler must have the following documents: valid passport, whose validity exceeds 3 months, the return period, return ticket, proof of financial resources (eg international credit card) , traveler’s checks, etc.), travel insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 Euros valid throughout the Schengen territory and valid for the entire period of your stay. Upon arrival in Germany, other documents may also be required. If it is suspected that your stay as a tourist will be used for illegal activities, entry into the country may be prevented.

When the 90-day stay has been reached, the traveler must stay 90 days outside Germany and the Schengen territory. Leaving to a neighboring country shortly before the end of the period and subsequent re-entry into Germany does not, under any circumstances, entitle you to another 90-day period of stay.

As a tourist in Germany, it is usually not possible to apply for a residence permit to reside in Germany. The Brazilian citizen must return to Brazil or the country where he / she resides and request to remain with the competent German Embassy or Consulate.

Citizens of other nationalities may need a visa, even for a short stay or just for transit at the airport (more information can be obtained from the German Embassy or Consulate, visa fee: equivalent to 60.00 Euros) .
