Useful Information

Vaccines

Many wonder if it is necessary to be vaccinated against yellow fever to go to the United States. Relax, there is no need for it; however, for people who want to go there by making a stop in Panama (doing immigration), the vaccine is mandatory.

Do not forget that it is required only if you actually enter the country, passing through their immigration, which is not the case when making only one stopover or connection.

There are Copa Airlines flights to the US with a stopover in Panama. Tocumen airport has a “common area” for connections that includes all boarding gates, if you do not leave this area, there is no need for the vaccine, you only need the vaccine if you actually leave this area of boarding gates (ie , if you pass through Panamanian immigration).

If you get vaccinated, remember that you should get the vaccine ten days before you travel and that people who have been immunized for more than ten years should take a booster dose of the vaccine, as its validity is only 10 years; and also to take the International Vaccination Card proving it!
